THIS WEEKS – IN THE SPOTLIGHT – BANDS
Oct. 20, 2021
THE NEXT GENERATION OF ROCKERS WHO I FEEL ARE ON THEIR WAY TO BECOMING NOTABLE ARTISTS.
I HOPE YOU’LL AGREE.
1. SMOKING MARTHA – https://www.facebook.com/smokingmartha/
Aptly named, the only word to describe this band is smokin’. Like the smoldering heat from a well-tended fire, the eclectic rock punk outfit known as Smoking Martha has the intensity to scorch your best shirt but the discretion to spare your eyebrows.
Fresh off their biggest UK tour to date with Wrecking Crew touring, Aussie rockers Smoking Martha have built up a strong cult following across the UK, Europe and Australia with their high energy debut record ‘In Deep’ released via European label Bad Reputation Records.
Their diverse blend of rock, Tasha’s smoldering vocals and the bands captivating instrumental hooks, Smoking Martha have been receiving praise from household names in the rock sphere including the UK’s very own Classic Rock magazine, The Huff Post UK, and Australia’s Triple J, Triple M, Blunt Magazine – just to name a few.
The band wasted no time and jumped back in the studio with producer Matthew Bartlem (Dead Letter Circus, Matt Corby) once again for album number two, titled “Universe” – which will be released in late 2021.
Their latest single: Liquid Sunshine.
2. CAVALCADE – https://www.facebook.com/CavalcadeBand/
CAVALCADE are a band making waves in rock and roll. Packing venues inside the capital with their electric live shows, they have proved that the Cavalcade journey is one to watch.
The band’s success has snowballed since their inception in 2017. Taking their music from local pubs in London to the Isle of Wight festival and to venues across the UK – even overseas to Gibraltar and Spain – word of the band’s spirited songs and vigorous live shows has spread on an international level.
CAVALCADE are an East London four-piece, currently creating waves with their version of blistering indie rock and roll. Recently signed to Golden Robot Records, CAVALCADE have released their new single ‘Feels Like Home’ on all digital platforms.
3. FUGITIVE – https://www.facebook.com/fugitiverock
Fugitive 2021 is a new band emerging from the ashes of what 2020 dealt us – fresh and re-energized – the music we are making excites us more than ever before. With new drummer Pete in the ‘Engine Room’ our sound more than ever is hard to nail down. If you can pigeonhole us please feel free, we’d love to hear what you hear in our stuff. We want that connection with you all… but if you enjoy hard melodic rock then what we do is for you. Our catalogue of music flows from melodic ballad to funky rock vibe to hard and heavy rock and in places… ‘metal’.
We don’t just play it safe with one formula, have many influences and our breadth of life experiences colour the songs with our own unique touch and feel.
Fugitive front man Michael Angel said “Take a listen to Not Guilty and hear for yourself where we are going with this. What I love about music is that it has the power to connect with people on so many levels, and you can take your own meaning and power from every song, relating to your own life experiences. Music has the power to heal. Not Guilty seems quite a controversial subject to tackle, but takes a very real personal demon and lays it to rest. Whatever someone thinks they know about a situation is often not the whole truth. This forms part of the story of my life. I hope it helps people with shared experiences.” Our goal as a band is to head out from Liverpool across the UK and beyond to meet you all out there celebrating life – living today – now, here in the present. We might be slightly older than some, but we are ALIVE and kicking and we damn well want to rock!
Keep on ROCKIN! \m/
